Our 2020 Favorites

Our 2020 Favorites

2020 was the year of Netflix and Hulu where we watched a record number of shows and movies. Forget about Tiger King! THESE are the shows and movies that kept us glued to the TV:

Palm Springs:

I've watched this modern, raunchier Groundhog's Day-inspired film at least five times throughout the year (if not more) and love it every time. The cinematography, writing, acting, and fresh spin on the classic rom-com is so entertaining. Also, the soundtrack is so good! -Lauren

The Undoing:

This miniseries is a step-up from Big Little Lies in terms of drama, stakes, etc. but perfect for fans of that show. Lots of twists and turns as a private NYC school deals with the brutal murder of a young parent. -Lauren & Whitney

The Flight Attendant:

This whodunnit takes you on a booze-filled ride with Kaley Cuoco right from the start. It's equal-parts-drama-equal-parts-mystery set in a range of locations from Thailand to Rome. The gist is this: an alcoholic flight attendant has a wild night with a hot passenger and wakes up the next day to find his throat slit. -Lauren

Dead to Me:

Lauren turned everyone on to this show and we finally got around to watching it (er, binging it). It's a dark comedy series starring Christina Applegate and set in sunny Laguna Beach. She plays a devastated yet tough widow searching for the person responsible for her husband's hit-and-run death. -Whitney

Dream Home Makeover:

Basically the next Chip and Joanna Gaines but based in Utah, Syd and and Shea McGee design gorgeous homes throughout the show, including their own! If you love a home makeover, this show will be eye candy for you. I love their design style and their family dynamic. -Lauren

2020 was also the year of recipe testing and boy, we made A LOT of new recipes! Here are some of the most successful and delicious ones:

Key Lime Pie:

I made this recipe a handful of times throughout the spring and summer months of 2020 and everyone loved it. It's easy to make but feels special! -Lauren

Traeger Cinnamon Rolls:

As always, I love making things on my Traeger - even baked goods! This recipe is a family-favorite and one I traditionally make on Christmas morning. You can serve it right out of the cast iron skillet. -Whitney

Gumbo:

Originally made during a cozy cabin retreat for my friend's birthday, this recipe was SO good I had to make it for my family. It's got the right amount of heat and heartiness. I added frozen okra when I made it a second time and it's now become a staple. -Lauren

Elk Meatloaf:

Eva Shockey's meatloaf recipe is the one I swear by. Even meatloaf haters are fans! -Whitney

Here are some of the best purchases we made in 2020:

Levi Denim Sherpa Lined Jacket:

A wardrobe staple I reach for all the time. -Whitney

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Face Cream:

I saw so many beauty bloggers talk about this French moisturizer/primer that I finally had to see if it was worth the hype. Guess what? It is. It makes my skin so soft and the faint jasmine scent is heavenly. -Lauren

Mercy Grey Design Co Bag

Made from genuine Pendleton wool, I'm obsessed with my unique, Southwest-vibe bag from this Etsy shop. -Whitney

Firefly Light Set

When I bought this 12-pack of mini firefly lights, I wondered how often I'd even use them! I've since used them for photos, on my front porch, in potted plants, and more. They create such an ambiance in the winter months and I find myself constantly reaching for them to finish off decor. -Lauren

My Loretta Lynn Boots:

Whitney introduced me to No Roots Boots, a small, female-run boot business that's grown quite a following! Paige has great taste and curates a site filled with the best boots at great prices. The 'Loretta Lynn' boots I bought this year have since gone on sale and are near sold-out! They have been my go-to boots because while they are fun and retro, they go with almost anything. -Lauren
